Description : The next caddy set has proven impossible to identify. It is probably Doyle (~1866-1891) or Beatty (1850s-1890). It was probably made during the heyday of this sort of caddy, which was from about 1890 until the end of World War I, or possibly as late as 1925. At one time I thought the Sapphire colored shakers were part of Hobbs #323 line introduced in 1886 and made by US Glass until at least the 1930’s, but they have 8 rows of hobs not 9 as Hobbs had. Measurements for the caddy are 4-7/8 inches long x 2-1/4 wide x 4-3/8 tall x 7/8 wide handle x 2-1/2 shoulder below the handle. The shakers are 1-3/4 inches wide x 2-7/8 tall with 9 rows of offset hobs. The bottom of the shaker has hobs, so it can’t sit on an EAPG style castor with a knob in the bowl. If they are Doyle or Beatty, they may have been sold by US Glass as overstock after 1891 when they joined US Glass. Many moulds appear to have moved around within the USG group of companies. Inez
