EAPG / Early American Pressed Glass
The process of pressing glass was first mechanized in the United States between 1820 and 1830. Early American Pattern Glass, also known as pattern glass, is pressed glass tableware made only during the Victorian period ca 1850-1910, only in America, and in sets such that all of the pieces in the set matched in design. [More Infomation Given By DoRi: The period actually runs from the beginnings of pressing with Deming Jarves, 1825 to 1915, with a few patterns lingering for a few years later. Some authors, including the most prestigious (John and Elizabeth Welker, Pressed Glass in America 1825 - 1925) extend that, although production at each end is scanty, and in the later years, includes left-over stock from various factories. The primary difference in glass formulae is in the transition from flint in the late 1860s, to non-flint/soda-lime glass from the early 1870s on].
